Food Review: River Wok

The food scene in Southeast Asia is rich, diverse and exciting – and that’s what River Wok aims to capture in one restaurant. River Wok has a unique mix of Indochina cuisine which represent many cultures that make up Singapore’s heritage.

River Wok is located at the end of Mohamed Sultan Road with a riverfront view. I'm like in a love hate relationship with the place. Part of me like that it's open concept, but the other doesn't. I can't imagine the sorching sun in the afternoon when you have to dine in a open concept restaurant. But nevertheless i was there at night, so it was cooling.

Yam Tuapoo Goong Sod
A wing bean-based salad with tiger prawns, shredded chicken and boiled egg. With more than 20 years of experience added to his repertoire, Gourmet expert Chookiat, in experiencing childhood in Chiang Mai, Thailand, has a characteristic liking with Thai cooking, close by a solid nature with common Indochinese herbs and flavors.

Koi Pla Salmon
In modern Thai language the saying “There are fish in the water and rice in the fields” is used to describe the wealth, abundance of food and happiness of living in Thailand. A Laotian dish consisting of marinated Norwegian Salmon sashimi cubes, with Asian herbs in chilli and lemon juice.

Nam Khao Hor
Hand rolled rice paper summer rolls with minced chicken and rice krispiesIf you are a fan of Vietnamese spring rolls, you will definitely love this.

Pho Bo (Wagyu)
It's a little like shabu shabu but instead of having it in a boiling soup, you get it in a boiled one. In exactly the same step, just dipping the beef into the hot soup, it will cook. The wagyu was delicate and succulent, truly adore the taste.

Gaeng Phed Ped Yang
I heard so many good reviews about this dish that i can't wait to try it. Now i know why it's so popular. This is my favorite dish out of all that i have tasted. The Sweet & Creamy Duck red curry is just a perfect complemented with a serving of white rice.  For those who can't take spicy food, this is definitely worth the try. 100% not spicy.

Banh Chuoi
No meal is complete without any dessert. It's serve with ice cream and semi-ripe banana.

Khao Neow Ma Muang
This is also known as mango sticky rice. The mango was chilled and very sweet and not forgetting that the sticky rice is just welly cooked, and the whole thing taste best together with the coconut milk.
